Direct Care Pty Ltd is committed to a policy of continuous improvement and training, particularly with regard to care providers and nursing staff. To ensure this end defined criteria are followed in the selection process of our staff.
To provide quality care services, DC requires that its employees are industry qualified care professionals.
We also offer a variety of 'in-house' or issue-specific training, which may include areas such as:
- managing infectious diseases,
- emergency response plans,
- food handling and hygeine principles etc...
Traineeships are also available and can be discussed at the first interview stage.
An induction program is compulsory on employment, which also assists the employee in following:
- Company policies & procedures,
- Essential health care practices,
- Relevant legal and industrial acts, obligations, considerations.
Direct Care employees are required to provide evidence of all certification and clearance documents prior to employment.
Senior First Aid Certificates and manual handling updates must be updated within 14 days of their expiry. In the case where this is not done, official notification and warning will be given by the company wthin 7 days. Refusal to update certification is considered by the company as voluntary termination on behalf of the employee.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Senior First Aid Certificate - to be updated every 3 years, (Industry Standards),
- Manual Handling Certificate - to be updated every 12 months, (Industry Standards),
- Certificate III in Community Services, (in Disability Studies, Aged Care and/or Mental Health) - Not obligatory, however Direct Care encourages all employees to complete at least Block 1 of this course within 6 months of employment. Traineeships may be undertaken within the company to obtain this qualification.
