As a valued client and consumer, you can expect that Direct Carer healthcare workers are adequately trained and certified to meet industry standards.
This includes:
Certificate III (Community Services),
- Manual Handling Certificate,
- Senior First Aid Certificate,
- Police Clearance, and
- Medical Clearance
- Without prejudice, the Company provides adequate public liability insurance cover against the possibility of claims for damage or malpractice.

Care Worker
The Postion:
The carer is the person who provides Personal Care and assistance to frail elderly, young disabled and their carers.
Objective:
Provision of personal care and assistance to frail elderly and disabled young and support with activities of daily living so that clients may be more active and inclusive.

- The health requirements of people including support with medication

- Facilitate habilitation of people
- Must be able to support community inclusion of people
Educational Prerequisites:
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate
- Manual Handling Training Certificate
- Certificate III in Community Services
Employment Requirment:
- A current Medical clearance from a General Practitioner
- A current police clearance
- Purchase of uniforms
- Your current bank account details, Commonwealth Bank preferred
- The name and phone number of 2 Referees
- Two passport size photos (please print name on the back)
Commitment:
- Hours of Duty as negotiated with the Coordinator
- Attendance at relevant training when required
- Attendance at staff meetings
- To work within Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines
- To work within the Polices and Procedures of Direct Care

Care Working - Dutires and Responsibilities:
Morning
- Assist client out of bed, toilet and prepare them for washing
- Prepare toiletries, towels and clothes in accordance with weather
- Bathe/shower/sponge client in accordance withCARE PLANS.
- Dry and dress client, clean deatures and put them back in, brush and/or comb hair, put glasses on, generally tidy the bathroom and make bed, if required, launder & dry clothes
- Prepare breakfast and if necessary help client to eat
- Wash and tidy kitchen area and a general tidy up of the house
- Seat client and make sure they have fluid and morning tea if required
Lunch
- Assist client in toileting
- Wash and prepare client for lunch
- Prepare meal as per plan, sit with client if required
- Wash and tidy up
- Ensure client is comfortable & if necessary ready them for a nap
Afternoon Tea
- Assist client in toileting
- Prepare a light meal as requested by them
- Wash up and tidy
- If time or care plan permits may be able to do light activities/reading
Supper
- Assist client in toileting
- Prepare client for bed by assisting with night wear
- Prepare a hot drink and biscuits
- Put client to bed
Note
All work areas must be left clean, tidy and odour free
You must be responsible and accountable to ensure your clients are attended to as per care plan.
Medication is not to be administered unless you are credentialed to do so for that particular client. However you are to prompt a client to take their medicine if they need to do so.
Report all relevant information to your Coordinator so that prompt action can be taken.
Communicate with other care workers via the "Communication book" to ensure continuity of service is upheld and maintained.
All Policies/Procedures and Safe work Practices must be observed at all times.
